 Layman Perspective exist to bring about an awareness and discernment among those who have been "born again" about the dangers of various anti Biblical movements that have invaded the church, thus enabling a more effective evangelistic ministry to those caught in the clutches of these movements. (Jude 1:22-23)

The prophetic scriptures are vividly clear that spiritual deception would be the hallmark within the church as we approach the end of the church age (Matt 24:4-5,  2Pet 2:1-2,  1Tim 4:1, Acts 20:26-31), therefore it is out of this revelation that the need for spiritual discernment and a contending for the faith (Jude 1:3-4)  will be called to the fore-front among those who are born-again.

It is time for God’s true pastors and teachers to sound the warning as never before. There needs to be a renewed and intensified focus in the efforts of teaching and completely equipping the saints (Eph 4:12) by employing sound hermeneutics in proclaiming the whole counsel of God, utilizing every ministry within the church as a conduit for teaching Biblical truth.

 The teaching of the scriptures needs to have discernment and apologetics integrated in its presentation. Discernment and contending for the faith is not an option but a necessity that must be diligently applied during this age of darkness and deception.

There are many popular animation shows with its characters dealing with occultic themes such as sorcery, incantations, spells, spirit possession, hell, demons, ghosts and even death.  These are not innocence children shows but are demonic orchestrated events produced through fallen humanity (Eph 2:2). These shows are used to lure, entice and in some cases captivate children and even adults into occultic and paranormal activities.

Occultism in England

In an article written by CBS's News' Ed Boyle Titled "A Look At Black Magic In Great Britain May 10, 2007" The following was reported:

"...Potions and spells aren't just for fantasy novels about witches and warlocks so says CBS's News' Ed Boyle in his report of the prevalence of the occult in England. Boyles also states that: "..There are parts of where one in ten of the people believe they have the power to teleport their neighbors - pick them up and spirit them away, literally.""

The northern county of Yorkshire for example, is packed with telepathists, time-travelers, enchanters, mediums and astrologers. Essex - to the east of London - contains the highest number of people subscribing to ancient pagan customs and rituals, and my own home county, Kent - just south of the capital - has three times the national average of psychic healers.

This isn't just mumbo jumbo. It is the result of detailed academic research overseen by a leading cleric of the Church of England which normally has a vested interest in playing such things down. But even the Church can't disguise the extent of this occult revival..."


Europe's love of the occult

In the International Herald Tribune August 15, 2007 Michael Johnson reported the following:

"...Seeking answers from the beyond is a favorite pastime of the Germans and the Swiss. In Denmark, the International Society of Business Astrologers encourages the business community to consult the alignment of the planets as a supplement to research on financial markets and other initiatives.EU Commission research indicates that 52 percent of Europeans believe astrology has a scientific basis compared to a more skeptical United States and Britain, at about 31 percent each. In terms of numbers dollars Johnsons wrote: "The main French professional clairvoyance organization, INAD (Institut National des Arts Divinatoire) says some 100,000 men and women are practicing clairvoyants in today. This is about four times the number of Roman Catholic priests. INAD estimates that about €3.2 billion are spent annually on their advice."

Who is behind this conditioning?

It is clear from the rise of the occultic activity in our society and where we are on God's prophetic time table, there are other forces at work. The Bible says in "Eph 2:2"sons of disobedience regulate their life "...according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience".

This Satanic power energizes those who have no relationship with Jesus Christ. They have  become dupes of Satan, and in some cases have no idea they are carrying out his bidding, in other cases they are completely aware of their actions. They are deceived and deluded through their rejection of the truth of Christ and the scriptures. Their conscience has been seared with the error of their way.

Some appear on the scene to help and to be of benefit to mankind or to bring new or hidden truth. (2 Cor 2:11-14)  While at the same time deny the person of Christ and biblical truth. This quickly identifies their deception, allegiance and their ambassadorship as emissaries of Satan.

Occultic and paranormal activity represents the warfare that is taking place between Satan and Christ (Gen 3:15) for the hearts and souls of mankind. Many are deceived into thinking that what is seen in the arena is ultimate truth about reality not realizing there is an intentional act of deception taking place and carried out by Satanic forces.

 


The Prophetic Significance of the raise of Paranormal and Occultic Activity


The deceptive power of the paranormal and occult will serve as signs and false wonders of Satan and his demonic horde, validating their false message. These manifestations will act as an intoxicant of delusions to those who who have chosen to reject Christ and will enable the lawless one (Antichrist) to deceived those who chose not to put their trust in Christ.

The ground work for this spiritual deception is aggressively being pursued by the world, ultimately preparing itself for a strong full manifestation of these delusions through the "mystery of lawlessness" which is being carried out by Satan and his demonic forces.

 

Notice what Paul says in 2 Thessalonians: 

2 Thess 2:7-12

7     For the mystery of lawlessness is already  at work; only he who now  restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way.

8     Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming;

9     that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all  power and signs and false wonders,

10     and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because   they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.

11     For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what  is false,

12     in order that they all  may be judged who did not believe  the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness

The world thinks they are gaining the wisdom of the gods but instead they are heading down the road to barbarism and eternal spiritual death.  Notice what John says in Revelation 9:21 concerning the unrepentant attitude of those living during the great tribulation
 " ...and they did not repent of their murders nor of their sorceries nor of their immorality nor of their thefts."
