Seventh Day Adventist Relationship to Ellen G White

Introduction

To those of you who are of the 'Seventh Day Adventist' persuasion I ask you to prayerfully consider the contents of this article. I have taken the time to
document my findings via direct links so that you may go back and validate what I have typed from SDA official documents and other sources. My intent
is to be as objective as possible by not interjecting personal opinion and to provide a basis for an objective assessment of "Seventh Day Adventism". An assessment I encourage you to take, your eternal salvation may depend on it.

In addition this article is not meant to be an exhaustive critique into the Seventh Day Adventist organization and their beliefs but to demonstrate that there is amble  evidence to warrant that one take a closer look at what the SDA is teaching their followers who attend their churches.

One must be careful not to follow any teaching that takes verses out of content and or twist verses to make them fit a particular belief system.

Keep in mind the Bible exhorts us to:

1 John 4:1

1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

1Thess 5:21
21 But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good;
22 abstain from every form of evil.

And the Bible warns us that:

Isaiah 8:20
20
To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, they have no light of dawn.

There is controversy as to whether or not the Seventh Day Adventist should be considered orthodox or a cult. Some within evangelical circles consider them to be cultic.

The controversy is fueled by the fact that the Seventh Day Adventist organization refuses to part waters with the heretical teachings of Ellen G. White.
This connection is clearly seen in their official doctrinal Statements which is addressed later in the article

Historical Overview

Seven day Adventist developed out of the Millerite movement organized by William Miller in the 1840's. William Miller was a former Baptist preacher who formed his own religious views, stating that all churches had become apostate and were "Babylon," that all Christians were to leave those churches and join his movement, and that the second coming, or the advent, of Jesus Christ was imminent. He (William Miller) developed a teaching in which he claimed that he knew the exact year and day in which Jesus Christ would return. Ellen G. Harmon (later Ellen G. White) became a member and follower of the Millerite movement....[1]

Miller was an active Freemason: "It was here [Poultney, Vermont] that Mr. Miller became a member of the Masonic fraternity, in which his perseverance, if nothing else, was manifested; for he advanced to the highest degree which the lodges then held to in the country, or in that region, could confer."
[2]

..."Most followers of the original Millerite movement disbanded, but small groups continued which were not directly connected with or under the authority of William Miller. One of those groups included Ellen G. Harmon (White).

Ellen G. Harmon (White) continued with the group with which she was affiliated and later met James White. They married in 1846 and with the union and the continuing visions of Ellen G. White, they were established as the leaders of what had become a revised Adventist movement and foundation of current Seventh-day Adventist theology. Seventh-day Adventist theology has very deep roots in the Millerite movement, but has progressed far beyond those basic teachings as a result of the visions claimed by Ellen G. White."
[1]

Today the the Seventh Day Adventist is composed of two divisions (1) Seventh Day Adventist and (2) Seventh Day Adventist Reformed .The 'Seventh Day Adventist Reformed' was formed in July 1925 as a result of an internal dispute as to whether one should serve in World War 1[3] or any war.

Ellen G Harmon (White)

One cannot properly examine the seventh day Adventist organization without gaining an understanding of one of it's most controversial founders, Ellen G Harmon (White). Ellen G Harmon was born Nov. 26, 1827, Gorham, Maine, U.S. died July 16, 1915, St. Helena, California under the married name of Ellen G White.

Ellen Harmon sustained a serious injury when she was nine years old, an angry schoolmate threw a stone, which struck her on the nose and caused significant injury. Some have alleged that this blow so severely damaged the temporal lobe of her brain as to cause her to have a type of epilepsy known as partial complex seizures (also called complex partial seizures). Thus, it is argued, that her visions were not divine revelations from God, but due to temporal lobe epilepsy.[4]. More can be read about how this injury affected her from a medical point of view written by Donald I. Peterson, MD at (1) http://www.whiteestate.org/issues/visions.html#injury and (2) the article written by Doug Hackleman, Editor, Adventist Currents, June 1985 at   http://www.ellenwhiteexposed.com/headinjury.htm

Her education ended with a brief period at the Westbrook Seminary and Female College of
Portland, Maine, in 1839. The following year she underwent a religious experience at a Methodist camp meeting, and she was baptized in 1842. A short time later she followed her family in becoming a follower of William Miller, the Adventist prophet who was preaching the imminent return of Christ (fixed for October 22, 1844). Undismayed later by the apparent failure of Miller’s prophecy, Harmon retained the Adventist view.[5]

The Place of Ellen G White in 21st Century Seventh Day Adventist

Both the Seventh Day Adventist and the Reformed Adventist hold Ellen G. White in high regard and acknowledge her as having the Biblical gift of prophecy as stated in the following belief statement of both groups. Thought the claim is White's writing is the lesser light that leads to the greater light which is scripture,

18. The Gift of Prophecy:
One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is prophecy. This gift is an identifying mark of the remnant church and was manifested in the ministry of Ellen. G. White. As the Lord's messenger, her writings are a continuing and authoritative source of truth which provide for the church comfort, guidance, instruction, and correction. They also make clear that the Bible is the standard by which all teaching and experience must be tested. (Joel 2:28, 29; Acts 2:14-21; Heb. 1:1-3; Rev. 12:17; 19:10.)

....The Gift of Prophecy

The gifts of the Spirit are to be restored to the faithful remnant before the second coming of Jesus. 1 Corinthians 1:7, 8.

In keeping with the promise of God, the gift of prophecy was restored to the true church in these last days. Joel 2:28; Acts 2:14-21; Revelation 12:17 (cf Revelation 19:10). Soon after the second great disappointment in 1844, Ellen G. White was called of God to the prophetic ministry among the early Adventists, and her work has stood the test of Isaiah 8:20 and Matthew 7:16, 20.

The main purpose of Ellen G. White's writings is to bring men and women back to the neglected Word of God, impressing upon their hearts the truths already revealed in the Bible, and to keep believers from drifting away from these truths....

The Prophecies  / Visions of Ellen G White

When one looks at the prophecies / revelations of Ellen White objectively, from a Biblical view, one has to keep in mind what is said in the following passages. A person obedient to the word of God will heed its warnings.

Deut 18:20-22
20 ‘But the prophet who speaks a word presumptuously in My name which I have not commanded him to speak, or which he speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.’
21 “You may say in your heart, ‘How will we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?’
22 “When a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not come about or come true, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.

Ellen White is on record for giving the following revelations in her writings that are attributed to her so called "Testimonies For The Church" In her Testimonies" she puts her revelations on par with scripture by claiming her revelations where directly from God. The below chart is not meant to be exhaustive but to reflect the issue at hand concerning EGW revelations and visions in contrast to scriptural teaching.

Keep in mind the following:

That Both the "Seventh Day Adventist" and  Reformed Seventh day Adventist official doctrinal statement acknowledges her prophetic gift as being from God.

It is contradictory and at worst deceptive to claim that the Bible has the last word, which has the Holy Spirit as its author and then claim Ellen G. White as having the gift of prophecy from God, yet her prophesies contradict what the scriptures say. Biblical prophets who spoke under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit (2Pet 1:20-21; Heb 1:1) never spoke contradictory to the word of God which also originated from the Holy Spirit. This was only true of false prophets.

9. My First Vision

"...Soon we heard the voice of God like many waters, which gave us the day and hour of Jesus' coming. The living saints, 144,000 in number, knew and understood the voice, while the wicked thought it was thunder and an earthquake. When God spake the time,.."

The 144,000 were all sealed and perfectly united. On their foreheads were the words God, New Jerusalem, and a glorious star containing Jesus' new name. At our happy, holy state the wicked were enraged, and would rush violently up to lay hands on us to thrust us into prison, when we would stretch forth the hand in the name of the Lord, and they would fall helpless to the ground. Then it was that the synagogue of Satan knew that God had loved us, who could wash one another's feet, and salute the brethren with a holy kiss, and they worshiped at our feet.

Mark 13:32–37

32   “But of that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.

33
“Take heed, keep on the alert; for you do not know when the appointed time will come.

34
It is like a man away on a journey, who upon leaving his house and putting his slaves in charge, assigning to each one his task, also commanded the doorkeeper to stay on the alert.

35
“Therefore, be on the alert—for you do not know when the master of the house is coming, whether in the evening, at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning—

36
in case he should come suddenly and find you asleep.

37
“What I say to you I say to all, ‘Be on the alert!’ ”

The privileges of Ellen G White to have divine things revealed to her exceeds that of Jesus himself. For she has been privileged to know the day and hour. This blatantly contradicts scripture.

"...and they worshiped at our feet. "
The other point of note is that Mrs. White has humans receiving worship, no where in scripture is this permitted. Whether to men (Acts 10:25-26) or angels(Acts 22:8-9). To do so, is disobedience to God by violating the ten commandments (Ex 20:5)

In 1876 EGW Stated - "In ancient times God spoke to men by the mouth of prophets and apostles. In these days He speaks to them by the Testimonies of His Spirit." Here EGW states that, "In ancient times God spoke to men by the  mouth of prophets and apostles. In these days He speaks to them by the Testimonies of His Spirit."

By making this statement she has placed herself above the person of Christ as God's revelation to men.

In addition she has placed herself on par with the prophets and apostles as men in which the revelation of God came.

By doing the before mentioned she places herself in direct contradiction to the scriptures which say:

Heb 1:1-2
1   God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways,
2   in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.
(Testimonies for the Church, vol. 5, p. 66 -67. Testimony 31; 1882.)

In 1882 EGW stated -  "If you lessen the confidence of God's people in the testimonies He has sent them, you are rebelling against God as certainly as were Korah, Dathan, and Abiram."

Here EGW uses intimidation and guilt against those who take issue against those who are in disagreement with her testimonies for the church by accusing them as being in rebellion against God and equating them with rebellious person as mentioned in scripture (Korah, Dathan, and Abiram).
On page 485 -486 of 'Great Controversy (1927 ed.) EGW stated,
"In the typical service the high priest, having made the atonement for Israel, came forth and blessed the congregation. So Christ, at the close of His work as mediator, will appear, "without sin unto salvation" (Hebrews 9:28), to bless His waiting people with eternal life. As the priest, in removing the sins from the sanctuary, confessed them upon the head of the scapegoat, so Christ will place all these sins upon Satan, the originator and instigator of sin. The scapegoat, bearing the sins of Israel, was sent away "unto a land not inhabited" (Leviticus 16:22); so Satan, bearing the guilt of all the sins which he has caused God's people to commit, will be for a thousand years confined to the earth, which will then be desolate, without inhabitant, and he will at last suffer the full penalty of sin in the fires that shall destroy all the wicked. Thus the great plan of redemption will reach its accomplishment in the final eradication of sin and the deliverance of all who have been willing to renounce evil."

1 Peter 2:21–24

21 For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps,

22 who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth;

23 and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously;

24 and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.

If a SDA follower believes Ellen G. White teaching that our sins where placed on Satan. There is no hope for them for it was Christ who bore the sins of the world. (Is 53:11-12; John 1:29; Heb 9:28)

The Old Testament is to be understood Christology especially in the matters of salvation. Satan is the enemy of man and not the savior or enabler of any work of salvation. It would be to Satan's advantage to save souls thus avoiding punishment all together if this teaching of Mrs. White was true.

Again Ellen G White has taught a doctrine in the area of salvation that contradicts scripture and reflects the insufficiency of Christ work of salvation. This teaching reflects the slant of another gospel and the work of a different Jesus. She even misrepresents the work of Satan himself, as found in scripture..

Was Ellen G White Racist ?
Ellen White stated, "Opportunities are continually presenting themselves in the Southern States, and many wise, Christian colored men will be called to the work. But for several reasons white men must be chosen as leaders. (EGW, Testimonies for the Church , vol. 9, pp. 202 - TITLE "A Call for Colored Laborers").""

One only has to search the scriptures and look at church history to see if  there is any Biblical support that say God only use white men as leaders. The answer is no.

It is clear from her (Ellen White) teaching in Testimonies for the Church Vol. 9. page 213-214 ) Ellen White taught that in order to further God's work among colored people, it should be done by keeping separation of white people from colored people and that the status quo should remain as it is, for according to her ,"No one is capable of clearly defining the proper position of the colored people....", as she states in the following:

"...No one is capable of clearly defining the proper position of the colored people. Men may advance theories, but I assure you that it will not do for us to follow human theories. So far as possible the color line question should be allowed to rest.

The cities of the South are to be worked, and for this work the best talent is to be secured, and that without delay. Let white workers labor for the white people, proclaiming the message of present truth in its simplicity. They will find openings through which they may reach the higher class. Every opportunity for reaching this class is to be improved.

Let colored laborers do what they can to keep abreast, working earnestly for their own people  I thank God that among the colored believers there are men of talent who can work efficiently for their own people, presenting the truth in clear lines. There are many colored people of precious talent who will be converted to the truth if our colored ministers are wise in devising ways of training teachers for the schools and other laborers for the field.

The colored people should not urge that they be placed on an equality with white people..."

Ellen White teaching promoted separation and the racial status quo that existed in the United States during her time, and Unfortunately to a relative lesser degree it still exists today. White had no intention of being a Biblical change agent within the culture during her time, but sought more to promote her anti-Biblical stance and to further her false doctrines. Her actions are diametrically opposed to Biblical truth where believers are to be the light (Matt 5;14-16)  and salt (Matt 5:13) and to fellowship and love one for another. The fruit of God in the life of the believer enables believers to love and be at peace with one another (Matt 9:50, Gal 5:22) regardless of color.

Also God doesn't chose men based on their skin color or human talent but according to his purpose and will in which he equips (1Cor 12:4-7) them to accomplish, for his power is perfected in weakness not in some superior human talent. For weakness is strength if Christ is in it. (1 Cor. 1:26–31)

It is also clear this move of Ellen White was not part of a move of the Holy Spirit as depicted in Acts 10 where Christ taught Peter a lesson about his attitude toward gentiles in this case Cornelius.

Again Ellen White was willing to promote spiritual apartheid in order to appease the false values within the culture of her time, rather than stand for the righteousness of God..

What Was Ellen White's Expectation of the Hearers of Her Revelations as Written in "Testimonies For The Church" ?

In 1867 Ellen stated:

"Although I am as dependent upon the Spirit of the Lord in writing my views as I am in receiving them, yet the words I employ in describing what I have seen are my own." (EGW, Selected Messages, 3 bks. (Washington: RHPA, 19585880), bk. l, p. 37)

In 1876 EGW Stated :

"In ancient times God spoke to men by the mouth of prophets and apostles. In these days He speaks to them by the Testimonies of His Spirit." (EGW, Testimonies for the Church, vol. 4, pp. 147-148.)

In 1882 EGW stated:

"If you lessen the confidence of God's people in the testimonies He has sent them, you are rebelling against God as certainly as were Korah, Dathan, and Abiram." (Testimonies for the Church, vol. 5, p. 66 -67. Testimony 31; 1882.)

It is clear from Ellen White's own writings that she considered her visions equal to the Prophets of the Old testament and the Apostles of the New Testament and herself rather than Christ as the last revelation to the church. If one did not recognize her writings as  from God they where " rebelling against God" according to her. Despite the fact they clearly are in opposition to scripture. Keep in mind she stated, "..."Although I am as dependent upon the Spirit of the Lord in writing my views as I am in receiving them..."

Though Ellen White says in her 'Testimonies, "That the Testimonies were not given to take the place of the Bible" (vol 5 p 663.1)  she clearly contradicts herself in other areas of 'The Testimonies' by saying she is receiving her views from the "Spirit of the Lord"  (EGW, Selected Messages, 3 bks. (Washington: RHPA, 19585880), bk. l, p. 37)

This should be most troubling for the one seeking to know the truth about Seventh Day Adventist. This becomes a sticking point and a point of clarity showing that Seventh Day Adventist nor the Reformed Adventist should not be considered Christian but cultic because of their allegiance to Ellen White, via her anti-Biblical teachings mentioned in her 'Testimonies for the Church'. These teaching are derived from her prophetic gift, in which she claims revelations from God. of  which contradicts scripture.

It is crystal clear that the God of the Bible has a different message than the God who provided Ellen White her revelations.

What is the Current Seventh Day Adventist Teaching Concerning What Level of  Authority Ellen G White Teachings Should Have in the Life of the Believer?

This questions is answered in the Official doctrinal statement of the Seventh Day Adventist and Reformed branch which states:

" 18. The Gift of Prophecy:
One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is prophecy. This gift is an identifying mark of the remnant church and was manifested in the ministry of Ellen. G. White . 1:1-3; Rev. 12:17; 19:10.).

The reformed Brach of Seventh Day Adventist state the following:

Gift of Prophecy
"The volumes of Spirit of Prophecy and also the Testimonies should be introduced into every Sabbath keeping family, and the brethren should know their value and be urged to read them."—Testimonies for the Church, vol. 4, p. 390.

It has already been demonstrated that  Ellen White gave many false prophecies/visions in her "Testimonies to the Church". Yet the Seventh Day Adventist organization including the reformed branch still admonishes their members to look to her as a source of truth. This again should be most troubling for one seeking the truth about the Seventh Day Adventist. This also is a blatant act of deception on the organization's part to mislead so many in this area.

Another Gospel / Another Jesus?

In number 24 of the Seventh Day Adventist Belief statement the following is stated:

24. Christ's Ministry in the Heavenly Sanctuary:
There is a sanctuary in heaven, the true tabernacle which the Lord set up and not man. In it Christ ministers on our behalf, making available to believers the benefits of His atoning sacrifice offered once for all on the cross. He was inaugurated as our great High Priest and began His intercessory ministry at the time of His ascension. In 1844, at the end of the prophetic period of 2300 days, He entered the second and last phase of His atoning ministry. It is a work of investigative judgment which is part of the ultimate disposition of all sin, typified by the cleansing of the ancient Hebrew sanctuary on the Day of Atonement. In that typical service the sanctuary was cleansed with the blood of animal sacrifices, but the heavenly things are purified with the perfect sacrifice of the blood of Jesus. The investigative judgment reveals to heavenly intelligences who among the dead are asleep in Christ and therefore, in Him, are deemed worthy to have part in the first resurrection. It also makes manifest who among the living are abiding in Christ, keeping the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus, and in Him, therefore, are ready for translation into His everlasting kingdom. This judgment vindicates the justice of God in saving those who believe in Jesus. It declares that those who have remained loyal to God shall receive the kingdom. The completion of this ministry of Christ will mark the close of human probation before the Second Advent. (Heb. 8:1-5; Heb 4:14-16; Heb 9:11-28; Heb 10:19-22; Heb 1:3; Heb 2:16, Heb 2:17; Dan 7:9-27; Dan 8:13-14Dan 9:24-27; Num 14:34; Eze 4:6; Lev 16:1-34; Rev 14:6-7, Rev 20:12; Rev 14:12; Rev 22:12.)  Click here to see the Seventh Day Adventist Reform doctrinal statement. (Expanded version)

The above 'Seventh Day Adventist' doctrine of  '24. Christ's Ministry in the Heavenly Sanctuary' presents a serious challenge to the historical Biblical doctrine of salvation by grace through faith (Eph 2:8-9), specifically Christ's atoning work on the cross and has strong implications that another Jesus is in view.

In looking at the doctrine of "Christ's Ministry in the Heavenly Sanctuary", the following are several things that should alarm a seeker of Biblical truth:

1. This doctrine was the out growth of a failed prophecy given by Baptist minster William Miller stating that their would be a literal return of Christ to earth in 1844. This was know as "The Great Disappointment". The following is a quotation from the Ellen G White Estate website of how William Miller came to the conclusion
that Christ would literally return in 1844.

"Miller was a farmer, justice of the peace, sheriff, and Baptist preacher, who, from 1831 to 1844, preached the imminent return of Christ…

As a young man, Miller was influenced by reading and association to become a deist. This is a belief that God made the world and then abandoned it to run according to certain natural laws. Miller volunteered for service in the War of 1812, and while in service saw evidences that there was a God, after all, who intervenes in human affairs. After the war he was converted and began a systematic study of the Bible to find answers to his former questions. In the process he discovered the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation, especially Daniel 8, which seemed to predict that Christ would soon return to earth. He finally established through the process of applying the Bible principle of a day for a year in prophecy, that Jesus would come a second time about the year 1843.

At first he said only that it would be "about 1843." He finally set an ultimate time in the spring of 1844.”

Ellen White has written positively about Miller in The Great Controversy and elsewhere. She heard him preach, and accepted his teachings, going through the disappointment at age 16. She believed that his preaching fulfilled the prophecies of Scripture, and saw him being guided by the Lord.

After the disappointment of October 22, he wrote: "Although I have been twice disappointed, I am not yet cast down or discouraged. . . . I have fixed my mind upon another time, and here I mean to stand until God gives me more light,--and that is Today, TODAY, and TODAY, until He comes, and I see Him for whom my soul yearns."--The Midnight Cry, Dec. 5, 1844, pp. 179, 180."[6]

From its inception the Seventh Day Adventist foundation was that of anti-Biblical, and false doctrine. The Bible is explicitly clear that date setting for Christ second coming was futile for the timing was to be set by God the Father himself.  The very attempt to date set reflects a contempt of God's authority.(Matt 24:36; Mark 13:32; Acts 1:7).

By adding dates that Jesus said, "no one knows but the Father" is adding additional information that God didn't give, in such a case God said he would prove you a liar. (Deu 4:2; cf. Prov 30:6). Which is exactly what happen to William Miller and those like him who continually set dates for Christ second coming.

2. Seventh Day Adventist clearly teaches another gospel, a gospel of works and not the gospel of grace (Eph 2:8-9) . Notice the wording used in their doctrine

"Seventh day Adventist" state that:
"...He (Christ) entered the second and last phase of His atoning ministry. It is a work of investigative judgment which is part of the ultimate disposition of all sin,..."

No where does the Bible states there will be a second and last phase to Christ's atoning work. Christ death on the cross was a finished one time work (John 19:30, Heb 9:11-12, 24-26).

The word atonement (heb. kaphar pronouncned /kaw·far/) means to to cover, purge, cleanse, purify, wipe off, cover, make reconciliation. This covering of our sin and reconciliation to God was always on the basis of shed blood (Matt 26:26–28) in which the animal sacrificial system in the Old Testament (Exodus 29:33, 36, 30:10; Lev 4:20, 5:6) pointed to the work of Christ on the cross where his blood was shed for the remission of sin.

There was never an investigative judgment that was part of the "Ultimate disposition of all sin", only the shed blood Christ.

To proclaim that there was a second work in the atonement for sin creates anti-Biblical doctrines that attack the sufficiency of Christ work on the cross by:

1. Implying that Jesus sacrifice and shed blood on the cross was not sufficient in itself, since something other than his death and shed blood needed to be accomplished for "...the ultimate disposition of all sin" .

The Bible says our sins are blotted out when we repent and be converted (Acts 3:19). In addition the Bible also says Jesus one sacrifice and shed blood has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.

Heb 10:11–14

11   Every priest stands daily ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins;
12   but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God,
13   waiting from that time onward until His enemies be made a footstool for His feet.
14   For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.

It must be noted from Heb 10:14 that our perfection is based not on us but the by Jesus alone. Not Jesus plus our good works. (keeping the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus). The good works in the Christian life is the result of salvation not by any means a way to obtain it.

The Bible also says that there will be no reference to sin for those who eagerly await him

Heb 9:28
28 so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him.

Because of Jesus shedding his blood we saved from the wrath of God (Rom 5:9)

2. It also implies that our salvation to some degree is dependant upon ourselves(deemed worthy / keeping the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus) plus faith in Jesus Christ. This type of teaching is a form of  Semi Pelagianism and which was a 5th century heresy. This teaching was condemned at the Council of Orange in 529AD.

The Bible clearly refutes a grace works salvation (John 6:2-29, Acts15:11; Eph 2:5-8; 2 Cor 8:9).

3. According to Seventh Day Adventist, "The investigative judgment reveals to heavenly intelligences who among the dead are asleep in Christ and therefore, in Him, ..., are ready for translation into His everlasting kingdom."

Again no where in scripture does it say that an investigative judgment is needed to "...reveal in scripture to heavenly intelligences who among the dead are asleep in Christ and therefore, in Him, ..., are ready for translation into His everlasting kingdom."

Jesus said in John 10:14:
14 “I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me,

The Holy Spirit speaking through the Apostle Paul said the following in 2Tim 2:19

19 Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to abstain from wickedness.”

God has also set his seal on all those that are his, (2 Corinthians 1:21–22; Ephesians 1:13; Ephesians 1:13)

One must not failed to forget that as God, Jesus possess the attribute of omniscience or all knowing as well as the other members (father, Holy Spirit) of the Godhead. Thus leaving one with the fact that he doesn't need to perform an Investigative Judgment to determine his own and to see if they are ready for translation into His everlasting kingdom. This statement begins to paint a portrait different than the one that describes the God of the Bible.

For the need of Christ to do an investigative judgment would imply that the heavenly intelligences of which the Father, Son, Holy Spirit are a part of, do not posses the attribute of omniscience. Yet the Bible says that God knows everything (Jer. 23:24; Heb. 4:12,13; Ps. 139:1-4; John 2:24; John 6:64). Yet according to SDA it was not know who was by heavenly agencies until 1844. Either God is forgetful and or man can hide from God.

Conclusion

In investigating the relationship of the Seventh Day Adventist with Ellen G. White, one is confronted with the challenging duplicity of both Ellen G. White and the Seventh Day Adventist organization. The fact that the Seventh Day Adventist organization has as its point of origin a foundation a false prophecy which gives it its maiden voyage into the world of false religion.

This base of false doctrine is reinforced by other false doctrines such as the "Investigative Judgment" and other false teachings as found of Ellen G White in her "Testimonies for the Church".  The Seventh Day Adventist claim that, "... As the Lord's messenger, her writings are a continuing and authoritative source of truth which provide for the church comfort, guidance, instruction, and correction." It has been demonstrated she taught many false doctrine and gave false prophecies and visions which contradicted.

Because the areas of false teaching opposed the essential doctrines of historical Christianity such as (1) Soteriology- salvation (2) Christology -  the study of Christ. It is clear that Seventh day Adventist preach a gospel of works plus grace and another Jesus. For this reason they must be classified as a non Christian cult.

Thought the Seventh Day Adventist gives numerous scriptures in an attempt to support their doctrine one only has to look them up and note they are used out of context. Sound hermeneutics plays no part in their teaching. This is a typical practice in the arena of false religions as they go about controlling and deceiving their followers.
