| Increasing Christian Persecution | |||||
History tells us that more Christians have been persecuted in the 20th and 21st century that all the past centuries Our Bible says the following concerning how followers of Christ will be treated by the world. Luke 21:16–17 16 “But you will be betrayed even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death, 17 and you will be hated by all because of My name. John 15:18–19 18 “If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you. 19 “If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you. 1 John 3:13 13 Do not be surprised, brethren, if the world hates you. This hatred of the world to those who belong to Christ will manifest itself in worldwide wholesale murder of those who stand for the testimony of Jesus Christ and the word of God. (Rev 12:11, 20:4) According to Life Site News November 30, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - "The 2010 “Report on Religious Freedom in the World” by the Catholic organization Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) states that Christianity is the most persecuted religion in the world, with at least 200 million people suffering from discrimination. The report notes that in 21 of the 194 countries studied, there is almost no religious freedom, and that worldwide, out of every ten people, seven cannot live their faith in full freedom. Two types of religious persecution - one by state policy and one by members of other religions - are identified. Christianity is said to be the most persecuted group in the world,..." Christian persecution currently is manifesting itself on several levels: 1. In Muslim countries Christians are intentionally targeted and hunted down and killed, imprisoned under false charges. In prison many are torture even to the point of death or incarceration for long periods of time where they are deprived of basic human needs and withheld legal rights. The wives and daughters are raped, families are threaten unless they denounce the faith. 2. We are starting to see in western countries such as the US and Canada and parts of Europe where an increasing number of laws are being passed to curtail freedom of religion even to the point of placing the teaching of passages dealing with homosexuality under hate crime laws. These hate crime laws as enabled the law to arrests pastors who preach Biblical passages that condemn homosexuality.[1][2] |
